The Assisi Centre is proud of its Italian heritage. It’s no good calling yourself an Italian aged care home unless ‘la cucina’ measures up to it as well.
Regardless of your heritage, mealtimes are some of the most important parts of the day.
But at the Assisi Centre it is one of the main things that makes us different to many other homes.
Recently appointed chef manager, Giulio Gencarelli(Jules), comes to us with a wealth of experience in Italian cuisine, bringing his expertise to the Assisi Centre.
The menu is a 4 week rotating menu with seasonal changes.
We regularly survey residents about their preferences. Jules and his team try to accommodate all tastes.
Too much salt, too little salt, vegetables not cooked enough, cooked too much, not enough insalata, more lasagne on the menu etc…..
it’s a MasterChef pressure test every day. With the toughest judges you will find.
We know our food costs are much higher than the industry average but that just shows how important our catering is to us at the Assisi Centre.
Cheese, fruit and wine are always on the table.

We are fortunate to have many opportunities and visits from Italian entertainers, including singers, choirs and musicians and local schools.
Just as often we use our bus to go out rather than wait for things to come to us,
for example, in September our residents will be able to go to the Italian Film Festival.
In our new theatre and auditorium we have movies and ice cream, at least weekly.
All residents have access to RAI on new HD Hisense TVs in their rooms.
Il Globo is available at no charge both Monday and Thursday.
We believe in making the most of it.
