About Assisi – Assisi Centre Ltd, a not-for-profit community organisation, was established and set about gaining support for what we have today – an ageing in place aged care facility catering for all levels of care, within the beautiful setting and grounds of the old Sisters of Mercy training convent that was built in the 1920’s in Rosanna, a north-east suburb of Melbourne.

The Role – We are seeking experienced Personal Care Assistants to join our team in the provision of personal, physical and emotional support to our residents.

* You must be available to work night duty and/or pm shifts

If you have:-

  • Completed a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • Demonstrated competency (approximately 18 months) working in an aged care
  • Experience working with dementia residents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in ACFI and knowledge of accreditation standards
  • A current Police Certificate
  • Italian speaking highly regarded
  • Ideally should live locally

Assisi was founded more than 20 years ago. In the early 1990s, the leaders of Melbourne’s Italian community recognised a need to set up specialised aged care services to support Melbourne’s fast-growing elderly Italian population.

Vacancies are available for:-

CLEANING ASSISTANT –   Working with a team of staff to ensure the  environment  is kept clean and hazard free, therefore compliant and meeting infection control requirements and accreditation standards.

LAUNDRY ASSISTANT – Responsibilities include:-  Washing, drying, folding and sorting linen and private clothing.  Knowledge of infection control & chemical safety necessary.

FOOD SERVICES ASSISTANTJoin a dedicated catering team in the preparation, serving, presentation, and delivery of food and refreshments in accordance with the Food Safety Program (FSP)

Essential to your success you must have the following:-

  • Previous experience in a hospital or Aged Care
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, patience, common sense and a strong ethos of client service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to write clear and precise English
  • Proven computer skills
  • Current Food Handler’s Certificate and the ability to understand and complete documentation in accordance with Food Safety Plan requirements
  • Mature outlook with the ability to relate and converse with older people
  • Be available to cover staff absences including weekend work
  • Ideally live within the Northern Suburbs

Current Police Certificate

  • Italian speaking highly regarded
