Expansion and redevelopment opening
On Sunday August 10th Sir James Gobbo, former Governor of Victoria and patron of Assisi Centre did us the honour of opening our 30 bed expansion and redevelopment. It marked the completion of the $21 million project.
More than 200 guests attended.
We can now provide care for 150 residents, helping 150 Italian families, at a very important time of their family’s life.
As one of the founders of the Assisi Centre back in 1993, His presence was an important way for us all to mark his service to the Italian community –in a cause he has championed for decades.
In his speech he made mention of the need for more such services as Assisi Centre for the Italian migrant community, as the numbers grow of those now well into their 90’s.
It was a day for great celebration.
Even if you or your family don’t need Assisi Centre now, you would be welcome to visit us and see for yourself this latest addition to the services for an ageing Italian community in Melbourne.
