Let the celebrations begin
Christmas party season at Assisi began on Tuesday, 12th December. The atmosphere was extraordinary, as celebrations were held for residents living in the three units downstairs; St Catherine, St Anthony, and Padre Pio. Entertainment was provided by Frank and Marthese Rizzo, who came back for a repeat performance, following Frank’s popularity on his last visit. The auditorium was pumping with anticipation of Santa’s arrival. Each resident received a gift from Santa. A further surprise this year, as Mrs Claus tore herself away from domestic duties to assist the big man. We were also lucky enough to have our volunteer choir masters attend, to encourage residents to belt out some Italian Christmas tunes.
Many Thanks to Lilian Antonelli and Renato Vecchies, who brought along other eager songsters who also wanted to bring some Christmas cheer to the residents.
An incredible amount of planning and hard work goes into organising these huge events for the residents, throughout the year. These would not be possible without the dedication of the Lifestyle team, Led by Tina Belvedere. We are sure the residents and families appreciate the lengths to which staff go, to ensure that residents have a great time.
We are grateful to Chiera Pharmacy who have been donating gifts for the residents for quite a number of years. Thank you to the players of the Santa family, Lou Tarquinio and Georgia Micheloudakis, who played his long-suffering wife (they’re now seeing a marriage counsellor).
St Francis and St Claire will have their Christmas celebrations next week.
