The festivities continue- Merry Christmas to all!

The Christmas spirit is well and truly alive at Assisi with celebrations in full swing.

The residents were spoilt for choice this month with Christmas concerts and parties on offer in addition to regular activities and bus outings.

Residents were treated to the unique sounds of the traditional Zampognaro as he roamed through the centre, gathering a following, not unlike the pied piper.

A zampogna is essentially the Italian version of the bagpipes.

Now, whether the Italians or Scottish should be credited with its invention is a subject for another time. Regardless, the residents loved it!

An evening bus trip to view the spectacular Christmas lights of the Boulevard in Ivanhoe is an annual favourite and did not disappoint.

The festive sounds of Laurel McKenna, the Assisi Men’s Choir and the dulcet tones of sisters and misters filled the centre during past few weeks.

A Christmas carols sing-a-long with Nazario Vocale, Tony Bernardo and Penelope Aunger Friday afternoon rounded off the week nicely, as residents joined in with lungs at full capacity!

A joy to see!

Christmas day itself will also provide residents with a feast prepared by Chef and his staff.

The joyful sounds of the season will ring through the centre well into the new year when, no doubt, La Befana

will also drop in for a visit.

On behalf of the Board, Management and staff we wish you a safe and happy Christmas and fabulous New Year!
